' 6.2.1 Major Rills and Erosion Channel Repair
Rills in excess of nine inches deep will be refilled with topsoil or
rock quarry spoils and revegetated. The bowl in the northeast corner of
the pit will be stripped of topsoil and/or regraded to eliminate some of
the existing concentrated flows. The remaining areas will be shaped to
drain uniformly or directed towards the channels shown on the drawings.
' Care will be taken where possible to avoid disturbing the existing
vegetation.
' 6.2.2 Basin 1,2,and 3
Basin 1 lies northwest of the site and contains approximately 950
acres. The area is primarily gently rolling hills covered with :sagebrush
' except for a few isolated roads, old mine waste piles and a cliff area at
the north end. A few small depressions also exist.
Figure 6.1 shows the drainage basin overlaid on the most recent USGS 7}
minute quadrangle sheet. Unfortunately, the quadrangle sheet was produced
' before the School Section Pit was excavated and rec laimed .
During mining, waste was placed in the mouth of the north drainage as
it entered the pit. An oil company also constructed a two foot high haul
road over the top of the mine waste fill .
' -15-
