•
TREE AND SHRUB
PLANTING RECOMMENDATION
For best results, stock should be grown from a local seed source and
raised locally and planting should be done between March 1st and May
15th, or October 1st to November 20th. The site should be bare of all
vegetation for at least one foot around the planting. Potted or balled
trees and shrubs should be used when possible. Stock should be planted
the same depth or deeper than the plant was growing in the nursery. Soil
should be well packed around the stock to eliminate all air pockets.
Stock should be watered in when planted if possible. Grazing should
not be permitted or plants should be adequately protected.
PLANTING RECOMMENDATION
SPECIES
SPACING
SIZE
Ponderosa Pine
Common Juniper
10-20 feet
Not less than
25 feet.
Large as possible
Lage as possible
Colorado State Forest Service can provide trees at a very low cost.
Figure on only a 40 to 50$ survival rate of seedlings if no supplemental
water is provided for the trees.
