C. RECOMMEND THAT ADDITIONAL GROUND WATER MONITORING WELLS
BE DRILLED DOWNDIP AND NORTHWARD FROM WELLS 35-4 AND 36-2
INTO SECTION 36.
The increased salts observed as the mine has progressed
northward may be due in part to the presence of a
syncline whose nadir axis may be located in the center of
Section 36, giving the ground water an extremely bad
quality downdip due to the geological structure
preventing a flushing of salts to occur. Additional
wells may verify this and aid the mine in determining the
source of elevated TDS. If this is the case, then the
mine may not be liable for the elevated levels of TDS,
often exceeding material damage criteria.
D. RESUME GROUND WATER QUALITY MONITORING TRIANNUALLY
(SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL) ON THE FOLLOWING WELLS:
1. 35-4U, 36-2U and 35-4M, 36-2C.
2. Begin to monitor water quality for RM-1 well.
cc: Larry Routten
Randy Price
ses\deserado
