Fehnrary 2004 Hayden G'n/rh Trmrmal, Inr. * Hayden Gulch L.oodoxt - 2003 /Annual Hydrology Report ~ Page 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The information assembled in this 2003 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) includes data collected from
all hydrologic monitoring sires for the 2003 calendar year at Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc.'s (HGT'I)
Hayden Gulch Loadout (Loadout) facility, Mine and Reclamation Permit No. C-92-087.
Locations of the hydrologic monitoring sites are shown on Figure ], Monitoring Site L.aiatian Map.
Hydrologic monitoring at the Loadout is performed for surface water, groundwater and Colorado
Wastewater Discharge Permit System (CDPS) outfalls. Water monitoring requirements for the
Loadout ace found in Tab 13 of the existing, valid Mining and Reclamation Permit (revision date of
May 1998). Two surface water sampling sites, HGSDl and HGSD3, are located on Dry Creek
upstream and downstream of the primary disturbance area, respectively. One groundwater monitoring
well, HGDAL3, is completed in Dry Creek alluvium downstream of the primary disturbance area.
Surface water and groundwater monitoring is required semi-annually, once during spring runoff
conditions (April through June) and once during fall low flow conditions (typically during October or
November). The November sampling event for groundwater and surface water was inadvertently
missed and collection of a supplemental sample was attempted in January 2004. Sample sites HGSD3
and HGDAL3 were frozen; however, a sample was collected at site HGSDl. The CDPS monitoring
occurred weekly, however, sample collection was only required on a monthly basis when discharge was
present.
Ad IVli ' 7475 Pine Grow Road, Surte 109 ' .Stemnhoat Spring; CO 3b177 * (970) 379-6260
II'-0'IhxA l\.Yx~l ll~.in l(N~XU'JN4H I~n~
n)/~l/i./d~
