S, 1973 Ah7i JAN, 2, 1974, AND JUDGi•iENTS <br />ON THESE PROPERTIES AS HABITATS FOR <br />BIRDS AT OTHER TINES 0~ THE Y>;AR <br />In this paper, I am attempting to accomplish four objectives: <br />(1) to summarise bird observations recorded during our field <br />studies of the Hennigh and Ziegle properties ,'and their <br />immediate surroundings, which were carried out between I3ov. 8, . <br />1973, and Jan. 2, 1974; <br />(2) to indicate very generally the variety of bird specie:: that <br />might reasonably be expected to occur in the study area during <br />times of the year not represented by our field studies; <br />(3) to assess the habitats available on the Hennigh and Ziegle <br />properties from the viewpoint of their value to general <br />taxonomic and ecological groups of birds; <br />(4) to account for certain general conclusions based upon the <br />above considerations. <br />In addition to observations recorded during our field studies, we <br />arc considering also information resulting from interviews and mailed . <br />questionnaires, results of Christmas Bird Counts for the Longmont Area <br />(crhich includes the Hennigh-Ziegle Study Area) as published in (uuerican <br />5i.ds, and the works of Bailey and Niedrach (1905) and Beidleman (1954)• <br />Gr,;:nization of the pager is essentially taxonomic, at least as far as <br />t:,a :first three objectives are concerned.
