Creek is evident.
Oak Creek: TDS, TSS, Ca, bicarbonate, Na, sulfate are all
low. Of heavy metals, iron is up, 2.0 mg/1. Copper, lead and
zinc are within acceptable ranges of data collected since
1983. Other years of high iron content were associated with
large precipitation events when the creeks were in high flood
state.
Magpie Creek: Data has only been collected on this creek
since 1991, with only one other data point in 1992 to compare.
TDS was about the same in both years 60-70 mg/1. TSS was
recorded at 1240 mg/1, down from 1992's 3540 mg/1. Iron was
high in both years 49.8 mg/1 in 1992 and 42 mg/1 in 1994. All
other heavy metals remained stable and within material damage
criteria limits. Na, bicarbonate and sulfate remained the
same in both years. Insufficient data base exists at this
time to determine water quality trends in this creek.
Second Alkali Creek: A sample from this creek was taken in
July 1993 during this year's sampling period. This is the
only sample and data collected thus far on this creek.
Stipulation 15 requires pH, TDS, TSS, Fe and Mn parameters to
be analyzed. With the lack of compilation of a body of data
it is hard to draw any conclusions for trends in the water
quality in this creek.
The Division would like to remind EFCI that since no
additional sampling was done in the summer of 1994, that in
order to qualify Stipulation 15 requirements, that another
sample must be taken prior to June 30, 1995.
Iv. Conclusion
This concludes the Division's review of Energy Fuels' Annual
Hydrology Report submitted for the period of July 1, 1993 to
June 30, 1994. Please provide comments where requested above.
The Division notes that all stipulations (mainly Nos. 6 and
15) and permit commitments have been met with the submittal of
this AHR. The report was received on September 8, 1994 after
approval for an extension was granted.
The following documents were utilized in this review:
Permit application, Exhibit 25
Hydrologic Monitoring Plan
Findings document for permit renewal 7/94
AHR from 1992 and 1993
Stipulation history
