B. Parameter monitoring: The following parameters were
sampled per permit requirements on a semi-annual basis:
pH Nitrate-Nitrite
Conductivity at 25 degrees Phosphate
Temperature (field) Sodium (Na+)
Total Dissolved Solids Sulfate (SO_4)
Bicarbonate (HCO3) Arsenic (As)
All wells were sampled except for OW-8 which was mined through
in early 1993. All wells were within acceptable parameter
levels according to the acceptable ranges for material damage
criteria. Observable trends in the 1992-1993 data have been
compared to data taken since 1979 in the individual wells, MW-
10, 16, 23 and 65 and are listed below.
MW-10
ph level of 7.6 is within the average values, no change.
EC level is decreasing;
TDS level is showing a decreasing trend, down from the
high of 935 in 1984 to a low of 398 and a 512 high this year;
continuing a decreasing average of 500+;
SO4 of 97 shows the lowest value of 97 mg/1 since 1979;
Na, also at 97 mq/1 just misses the all time low of 95 mg/1;
All other parameters reflect consistent trends to previous
years, with no increases noted. In general, the water in this
well is increasing in quality.
MW-16
pH within acceptable range of 7.1 to 8.1.
EC ranges from a high of 3360 in March '93, reflecting usual
trends, then to a record low of 1190 in February '94. Next
year's data will help to understand if the trend will continue
or if this is an anomaly.
NOg, SO4 and Na reflect this low EC as the data reflect record
lows,with Na the lowest recorded value since 1981 of 302 mg/1.
Correspondingly, the TDS value of 700-784 is the lowest ever.
All other parameters remain constant in trends from previous
years. In general, the water quality in this well is also
improving.
MW-23
pH within acceptable range towards high end of alkaline; 8.3-
8.7.
TDS and EC within historic range, 200-1000 mg/1.
All other parameters within historic data ranges. In general,
the water in this well is remaining the same quality.
MW-65
pH within range; 7.5 to 8.3 for the monitoring year;
EC, TDS and 504; all show a decreasing trend;
HCOg, NO3, PO3, Na and Ca remain steady since 1991;
No parameters show an increase. In general, the water quality
in this well is slightly improving.
