Plant Nomenclature
• Plant nomenclature follows Weber and Wittmann 1992, as updated on the University of
Colorado Herbarium website. Details of nomenclatural note include:
- Thinopyrum intermedium and T. intermedium ssp. barbulatum were not
distinguished. Further, as per Weber and Wittmann, T. intermedium is taken
to include the former Agropyron trichophorum.
Elymus lanceolatus fm. dasystachya and E. 1. fm. psammophilus were not
distinguished; the two combined are reported here as the former taxon. .'
Among big sagebrush, no attempt was made to separate mountain big
sagebrush (Seriphidium vaseyanum) from basin big sagebrush (Seriphidium
tridentatum). Both occur in the native upland areas but most of pre-existing
sagebrush and reclaimed area sagebrush is mountain big sagebrush.
Climatic Data
Precipitation data from the Colowyo Mine for the period of January 1997 through
December 2001 was provided. The long-term average for precipitation and temperature
was gathered from nearby weather stations from Hamilton and Hayden from the National
• Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Climate data are graphically
represented in Figures 1 through 7.
RESULTS

Field data from the 2001 revegetation monitoring studies at the Colowyo Mine are
presented in Appendix 1, Tables 1 through 12. Seedling density data from areas
seeded in year 2000 are summarized in Table 13. Cover, woody plant density, species
density, and relative cover by lifeform data are summarized in Tables 14 through 16.
Sample adequacy evaluations are presented in Table 17. Figures 8 through 11 contain
graphical representations of percent foliar cover, woody plant density, species density
and relative cover by lifeform. Table 18 (Appendix 2) contains a tally of all plant species
present in each area sampled in 2001. Appendix 3 includes the seed mix used in the
1997, 1999, and 2000 seedings sampled in 2001. Appendix 4 presents photographs
from the areas sampled for cover and woody plant density in 2001.
DISCUSSION
3
