March 3, 1986
Mr. David C. Shelton
Page 4
1983 (COnt.)

Total acres reclaimed for 1983 was less than one-half acre.
1984
Mining plan consisted of part dredging and part using a Sauerman operation
to extract gravel. We did no[ disturb any additional land because we were
digging deeper in places that had already been excavated.
Reclamation consisted of sloping shore line on northwest side of pit, which
amounted to about a half acre.
19x5
Mining plan consisted of using a Sauerman operation to extract gravel. We
did not disturb any additional land because we were digging deeper in places that
had already been excavated.
Reclamation consisted of a minimal amount of bank sloping on the northwest
corner of pit.
Summary and Appraisal of Reclamation Efforts
We believe that our reclamation efforts so far have been successful.
Almost all of the bank areas that have been sloped and topped out have
numerous forms of vegetation growing on them with a minimum of cost.
The rainbow trout that were stocked in the pit initially, have grown from
two to four inches in length to over 20 inches now.
Additionally, a few other varieties of small minnows and fresh water shrimp
have appeared, providing the trout with a very good source of food.
Each year there has been an increase of different vari'eti'es of waterfowl,
and other birds.
As the body of water has grown, we have also seen more Canadian gees using
the pit and more nesting occuri'ng on adjacent areas.
In effect, we are not only accomplishing our reclamation goals, but are
creating an ecosystem that did not exist before.
Also, the recreational possibilities of this area are becoming more apparent.
We have created an excellent fishing area, and even though we have not opened it
to the public, we let our employees and their families us it on weekends.
I'n summary, we believe that our reclamation efforts have been successful
and will continue to be. We also believe that reclaiming mining areas is a very
beneficial and positive thing to do.
Sincerely,
Qr,,,,_'
Mathias Concrete, lnc.
Thomas G.
