Gunnison No. 1 Mine.
The causes for these slumps can be attributed to
the unusually wet winter and spring we;~ther creat-
ing an over-saturation of the soil .• As we see on
the evening news, this sort of thing i:s appearing
on slopes all over the western states this year.
The extent of the slumps at Mt. Gunnison can be
described as relatively small surf~::cia:L structures
covering areas up to about 100 feet i~1 radius and
about 10 feet in depth. These slue •.ps ~:~ccur in
several locations throughout the p:.ope.cty. New
slumps continued to appear as more rai.~ falls.
We have been monitoring these slum~:s aad have had
Geo-Hydro Consulting, Inc. on the ~-rop~~rty to help
us evaluate them. The slumps will be corrected by
one of the following alternatives:
1. Let nature seek its own ':~ rm :i.f no damage
is caused.
2. Recontour and revegetataa
3. Recontour, compact and re~egetate.
4. Remove fill, intall frelic::- drains,
recontour and revegeta.te.
5. Build a buttress, reconto_,r and revegetate.
nn~ rr722
