M-77-342)
Deaz Mr. Humphries:
Included is the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) Annual 112d-3
Report for Climax Molybdenum Company's Henderson Mine and Mill (Henderson)
(Permit No. M-77-342), and our check for the $1,000.00 annual fee. Please also find
enclosed, as required by regulation, documentation regarding the valuation of water rights
that Henderson has used to secure completion of its reclamation obligations; we also have
provided documentation to prove that we do not owe any outstanding property taxes.
Below is a summary of interim reclamation activities conducted during 2005.
Mine Site
There were no new disturbances at the Mine in 2005, nor do we expect any in 2006. We
conducted no reclamation activities at the Mine in 2005. Additional detail on reclamation
completed at the millsite follows.
Mill Site
The tailing basin water pool increased to an elevation of 8822.83', which increased our
disturbed acreage in the Tailing deposition area in 2005 to 1,090 acres, from 1,068 acres
the year prior. Based on survey information, Henderson believes that this is a
conservative estimate.
Henderson continued with the removal and relocation of topsoil that would become
inundated by the rising tailing level. During the 2005 year, Henderson successfully
relocated approximately 10,000 cubic yards of soil both to the north stockpile, which is
located on the northern end of the tailings impoundment, as well as the SS4 stockpile
located on the western side of the impoundment.
