W~ LAMS FORK COMPANY ~
October 23, 1989~~A~~a.~
CERTIFIED P568142124 OCT ? ~ 1989
MINED Lldi~e'
Mr. Fred Banta RFf,;~AMATION i~i~/i.Fe~.'ii
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
215 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Fred:
Subject: Annual Sand and Gravel Operation for 1988-89, and Notice of Intent
to Continuing Mining Operations (Permit No. M-84-168).
Enclosed is our 1988-89 Sand and Gravel Operation map and annual fee payment
($350). The Williams Fork Company intends to continue mining operations into
1990. A brief discussion of our 1989 mining activity follows. The map shows
the surveyed location and number of acres which have been actively mined (7.2
acres) and/or partially disturbed (9.2 acres) through October 5, 1989. The
partially disturbed acres include topsoil stripped areas and vehicle traffic
areas. At the current time, the revised (April 1989) mining limits should not
change through August of 1990. However, if additional sand and gravel
production is required in 1990, the proposed stripping limits should include
the remainder of mining area number 2 (as shown on the Exhibit C-Map) and may
effect the extreme southern edge of area 3.
No additional acres have been reclaimed to date. However, the .43 acre ditch
seeding planted in fall 1986, continues to be dominated by targeted perennial
grasses and shrubs with similar cover and species composition as reported in
last years annual report.
There were no fertilizers, organic materials nor soil conditioners used in
1988-1989. Topsoil removed during our pit advance in 1989 was placed on our
existing topsoil stockpile. This stockpile (.7 acres) will be re-stabilized
and seeded in 1989. The plant species to be seeded appear in Table-3 of our
permit.
The Williams Fork Company proposes to affect approximately 2.5 additional
acres in the coming year. As stated above it would be in area 2 and the edge
of area 3.
The effective date for this information is October 5. 1989.
P.O. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (303) 824-4401
