•
R. G. OTTO & ASSOCIATES
~,
Monitoring well 1k4 (site 303) is approximately 150 ft :From the
stream when traveling in the presumed direction of gro~ind water
flow. The flow of ground water from well ik4 to Ralsto~s Creek has
been calculated for several hydraulic heads (h) using IC = 4.76
in/sec (McDermid 1983). Results are as follows:
h (ft) 0/At
0.5 0.0159
1.0 0.0318
1.5 0.0476
2.0 0.0635

where 0/At is expressed in cubic feet of flow to the s~azeam per
square foot of stream bank per second. Larger values of h are
representative of hydraulic heads during spring runoff periods.
Lower values are typical of winter conditions. These +~heoretical
values for ground water inflow to the stream represent a mixe
flow of any ground waters that may have percolated through the
waste rock as well as unaffected ground waters from up~~radieat
locations. It is not feasible to determine the impact on the
stream of any ground waters that have percolated only +>hrough the
waste rock pile. Such ground waters, if they occur, will have
combined with the regional ground water system before reaching the
stream. However, water quality as measured at well i4 should be
representative of this combined ground water.
o^
