R. G. OTTO & ASSOCIATES
,.
1:'
(Cotter) location is immediately below the terminus of the waste
rock piles (Figure 4). The Cotter samples and splits are analyzed
by a commercial laboratory. The data is incorporated into the
semiannual report to the Colorado Department of Health Radiation
Control Division as Appendix Table K-1.
Two of the elements specified for consideration in the Discharge
Permit requirement have been measured on a regular basis in the
Radioactive Materials License monitoring program. Natural uranium
and radium-226 concentrations are measured monthly in both the
dissolved (soluble) and suspended phases. Data are currently
available for the period January 1983 through June 1984. Data
collected in the second half cf 1984 will be available is early
1985 as Table K-1 of the semiannual repozt to the Radiation
Control Division.
Results: All of the Radioactive Materials License monitoring data
collected and analyzed by Cotter from January 1983 through Juae
1984 are listed in Table 1. Three of the observed uranium
concentrations are "suspect" by virtue of their wide differences
from the majority of the results. Soluble uranium below the waste
rock piles oa January 28 1983 (358.9 uqm/1) and above the piles on
March 28 1984 (22.2 ugm/1) have been excluded from consideration
as has the value of suspended uranium below the waste rock piles
on March 14 1983 (66.0 uqm/1).
1!.
