It is interesting to note from these data that the average <br />cover (as well as production, see below) of the ungrazed areas is lower than that in the grazed <br />Wadge Pasture reclamation throughout the period of record. This provides support for the idea <br />• that moderate to Tight grazing (such as has occurred in Wadge Pasture) tends to enhance plant <br />growth most likely by encouraging more rapid mineralization of dead plant parts leaving nitrogen <br />among other nutrients more readily available. <br />Herbaceous Production <br />Calculation of 90 percent of the production pertormance standard appropriate for 2003 sampling <br />is as follows: 90 percent of the Herbaceous Production Standard = 0.90[0.83(1088.5) + <br />0.17(1946.8)] = 1110.0 oven-dry Ib/ac.
