'
The Operator is to visually inspect the permit area for the Sanborn
Creek Mine and the Sanborn East Tract for mass movement features in
June and November of each year. Particular attention is to be
focused upon the modern landslide on the east valley slope of Coal
Gulch, the landslide features within the unnamed drainage between
the Sanborn Creek and Coal Gulch drainages and the modern landslide
on the west valley slope of Hawksnest Creek. If new mass movement
features are noted, they are to be brought to the attention of the
Division.
The June visual inspection was performed by Bill Percharich
concurrently with spring monitoring requirements on July 2, 1993.
The November visual inspection was performed by Kirt Jewkes on
November 19, 1993. No new mass movement features were noted. No
pictures were taken of the area.
The cut slopes on the Coal Gulch access road did slough after the
spring thaw. In one area the cut slope failed enough to block
vehicular traffic. The road was reopened during the year. The cut
slope failures do not appear to be associated with any major
landslide features.
Enclosed is a portion of the Geologic Hazards Map, Drawing C8-1227-
A, with the current Sanborn Creek Mine workings shown on the map.
It can be seen from this map that the modern landslide feature
located on the east valley slope of Coal Gulch and the landslide
feature in the unnamed drainage have both been mined under.
