SPOIL SPRING MONITORING <br />• A spoil spring monitoring program was initiated in 1986 and has <br />been conducted annually. According to the approved plan, the <br />annual mine wide survey is conducted during May and springs are <br />measured for flow and field parameters. If a spring is discharging <br />35 gallons per minute or greater then it will be monitored <br />throughout the remainder of the year in accordance with the <br />monitoring plan. No spoil springs were found in 1993 which <br />produced flow sufficient to require sampling, most being seeps. <br />water Quality <br />Since 1986 the maximum total spoil spring discharge was 0.040 cfs. <br />No significant spoil spring flow was detected in 1993. Due to the <br />low to nonexistent flows, the spoil springs are not significant to <br />the hydrologic regime.
