These poles are summarized in Figure 8 and are
presented in further detail in Table 2 below.
Table 2: Representative Discontinuity Orientations
Concen-
tration
Center
F-1 (Fat)
F-2 (Fo!)
F-3 (Fol)
P-1 (Joint)
1997-
2002 & 2003
2004 Main Pit
Surface Borehole
Mapping Data
Data
176°/36° 168°/38°
2003
Southern
Expansion
Data
2005 2006 Entire
Surface Surface Dataset
Mapping Mapping (2,960
Data Data points)
177°/35°
258°/17° (1)
174°/81 ° 178°/74° 171 °/75°
- 157°/39°
209°/16° 198°/24°
336°144° 294°/36°
172°/76° 165°/72°
159°135
°
171°l78
°
087°/63
°
251 °/68
°
2a7°no
°
345°!62
028°I53
°
P-2 (Joint) 089°/72° 082°/63° 095°l55° 104°l61° 102°/47°
P-3 (Joint) 257°/73° 256°/66° 248°/53° 255°/61° 257°/79°
P-4 (Joint) 293°/72° 294°/70° 316°/41° 308°/76° -
P-5 (Joint) 334°/86° 349°/62° 343°/73° - 336°l76°
P-6 (Joint) 028°/68° 037°/57° 031°/55° 039°l58° 029°/49°
(1) Orientation of foliation found in the upper 300 feet of boring DH-03-03
(2) The orientations in bold were used as representative for this study
Note the overall adjustments shown in Table 2 that have been made to the
general orientations for each of the discontinuity (foliation and joint) sets based
on the combined discontinuity data obtained over multiple years' analyses.
Overall, the discontinuity sets obtained by analysis of the entire dataset (i.e.,
2,960 points) are consistent with the cluster analysis from previous years'
individual analyses, with the exception of foliation orientations, F-2 and F-3
(Figure 9). Both of these two discontinuity orientations are identifiable within the
quarry, but have not been recorded in large enough quantities to create a strong
signature in the analysis of the entire dataset. However, based on the
prevalence of these discontinuities in the southern expansion area, both of these
orientations have also been used in this analysis.
-16-
