Stipulation 12 states:
Within 60 days, a surface Visual inspection shall be conducted encompassing
areas to be undermined in the next 5 year permit term. Inspection shall
include any surface structure or feature to be undermined. Features must
be documented and photographed for historical record keeping. Following
initial inspection, semi-annual inspection shall be conducted. Inspection
should include evidence of surface cracks or subsidence effects, which are
to be measured, recorded, mapped and photographed. Results to be submitted
in annual subsidence report by December 31st of each year to the Division
of Hinerals and Geology.
I recently spoke with Shawn Smith and Janet Binns of this office in regards to
the specifics of the subsidence monitoring report. The report should include the
following:
1. Prior to any expansion of mining, surface visual inspection of the
next five year permit term should be conducted. These visual inspections should
be photographed before and after undermining has occurred.
2. Visual surface inspections should be conducted bi-annually at the
undermined area for surficial signs of subsidence. Subsidence features should
be measured, recorded, photographed and mapped for historical record keeping.
These inspections should include secs ssible~portions of mesa tops, Rapid Creek,
any Visible sections of the water line near Rapid Creek, and degas riser pipes
on that water line.
If you have questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to
call.
Sincerely,
~~ s CC
Erica S.
