DEpt. 01 Na:~r~l ;teSUUrCEs Re Annual Report - MLR File No. 77-36 - Greeley Pit Mining is progressing on schedule in accordance with the Mining Plan out- lined in the Technical Revision accepted October 24, 1979. We have con- tinued to mine in stages one and two. SYe will deal specifically with each of the annual report questions as outlined in Section 2.41 of the MLR Rules and Regulations: 2.41(1) No new land has been disturbed during this year. Mining continued on approximately 3.841 acres. (2) No reclamation was required, (3) In the spring of 1982, lOf acres was seeded (see map). (4) The following seeding mixture was planted (accepted as a technical revision March 25, 1982): Species Rate(Lbs PLS/Ac) Intermediate Wheatgrass 4 Pubescent Wheatgrass 3 Western Wheatgrass 4 Sand Bluestem 2 Yellow Sweetclover 0.5 Total 13.5 (5) None was used. (6) The planting failed. We believe the failure occurred because of the arid spring. The water table adjacent to the pit is lower because pumping has reduced the amount of available ground water at the upper surface of the soil and may have prohibited growth of the grass mixture. (7) Extraction will continue in Stages One and Two. It is expected that approximately 3.13 acres will be mined in the areas previous- ly disturbed. (See 1982 Annual Report Map.) (8) The effective date of all information herein is October 4, 1982. 2.42 The Annual Report fee of X350 is enclosed.
