ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT <br />MESA GRAVEL PIT <br />SENECA COAL COMPANY <br />PERMIT N0. 82-036 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The gravel from this operation is used at Seneca Coal Company's Seneca mining <br />operations for road construction and road maintenance. During this reporting period <br />(June 1, 1996 to June 1, 1997), approximately 35,000 tons of gravel was produced. <br />4. Location and number of acres affected during this report year. The Annual <br />Reclamation Map for this reporting period, Exhibit 2.41, shows the status of <br />mining and reclamation activities for the Mesa Gravel Pit as of June 1, 1997. <br />RESPONSE: <br />Activity Acres <br />Topsoil removed ahead of active pit 3.7 <br />Active pit area advance 4.3 <br />5. Location and number of acres reclaimed during the report year. <br />RESPONSE: <br />There were 3.7 acres totally reclaimed this year. Location and number of acres in the topsoil replacement stage. <br />RESPONSE: <br />There are 12.9 acres in the topsoil replacement stage. See the table in <br />response number 2. <br />6a. Average thickness of topsoil replaced. <br />RESPONSE: <br />The average thickness of topsoil replaced for this year was 12 inches. <br />7. Location and number of acres seeded. <br />RESPONSE: <br />There were 10.2 acres seeded for the report year. Of this total 3.7 were <br />seeded for the first time, and an additional 6.5 acres were reseeded, due to <br />poor vegetation growth in this area. <br />
