•
INCAS MINE
ANNUAL REPORT ..
PERMIT N0. M-86-076
During 1987-88 most of the efforts were directed at amending the
original permit application to include additional areas with the
permit area. It was also amended to include major changes in the
original mine plan. The amendment process was completed in March
1988.
Due to excessive transportation costs to haul the ore to the Crystal
Hill heap leach site, reliability of transportation services, and
problems with capturing Incas gold within theconfines of the Crystal
Hill heap, no mining was conducted in 1988. Mining activities were
limited to exploration to further define the extent of the ore body
and produce a better map of the mine and adjacent features. How-
ever, much effort was devoted to securing a new milling site.
Several sites were defined but financial considerations preclued
further development in 1988. Mining is expected to resume in 1989.
Four areas at the mine were seeded to prevent erosion of exposed
banks and the top soil stockpile. Each site was first seeded, then
covered with a straw mulch, and additional seed broadcast over the
straw. A seed shortage prevented the use of the recommended mix
noted in the permit application. Local seed sources recommended
the following mix.
Orchard Grass 307
Perennial Rye 207
Tall Fescue 207,
Annual Rye 207
Brome 107
This mix is being used for temporary soil stabilization. Once
final reclamation commences then the recommended mix will be sought.
Should it be unavailable again, then a substitute mix will be pro-
posed and approval sought from the Soil Conservation Service and
the Mined Land Reclamation Division before using it.
