•
•
•
J3.0 Corrective Measures
This section is an update of SectioD 3.0 of the "1997/98 Landslide Corrective Measures Repoli". This
section provides oew information on corrective measures implemented between October 2000 and
November 2001. Work performed during this period includes:
• New surface movement monitoring mirrors 137, 138, 139 and 140 were installed on the Material
Storage Bench and below the ROM Pile.
• New inclinometers I01-02 and I01-03 were installed oD the material storage bench.
• New piezometers Ol-O1, 01-02, 01-03, and 01-04 were installed on the material storage bench.
• The portal bench was graded to reduce infiltration drainage at the head of the slide.
• Cracks on the material storage bench, roller-compacted concrete surface were sealed to prevent
inflltration of surface water into the storage bench fill.
Possible planned correction measures for 2002 and 2003 could be as follows:
• Rehabilitation of the F-Seam sumps neaz the portal entry way. These sumps, which are presently
unlined, collect water from mine workings, providing another source of water for the slide. Water
collected by the sumps escapes through fractures in the F-Seam floor and is transported to the head of
the slide by fractured bedrock. The plan is to install directionally drilled horizontal holes which
remove water from the sumps, and prevent it from reaching the head of the slide. Engineering designs
and conswction estimates have been now been completed for this project. Conswction for the
project is contingent on availability of capital funding and movements observed in the slide.
• Lining of the main Clearwater diversion ditches above the existing portals and landslide. The existing
Clearwater ditch was constructed as a combination ditch and shallow French drain, graded so that water
Berr Engineering Company
PCDOCSt230503/CAK
December 15, 2000
Appendl: J
2001 Addendum to
1997/99 Landsllda Correetlvs Measures Report
