i

At the tce of the slide, inclinometers I1C-15, I1C-23, I98-06 installed during the installation of the pins,
indicate a definitive shear plane 55 to 65 feet below the surface. Movement rates over a monitoring period
from October 2000 to September 2001 are as follows for the selected inclinometers:
• I1C-I5, 0.25 inches/yeaz, LVC-1 classification.
• I1C-23, 0.25 inches/yeaz, LVC-1 classification.
• I98-06, 0 inches/yeaz, LVC-1 classification.
Surface movements at the [ce of the slide indicate little or no movement. Movement rates at the shear
plane of thr•. slide indicate that there is slight movement but at extremely slow rates, and the depth of this
shear plane has no[ changed during the period of measured movement.
J5.4 Stone Columns
The response of piezometers in the stone columns can be found in graphs provided in Appendix J2.
Locations of the stone columns are shown on Figure I1 of the 2000 Addendum. A detailed description of
stone columns is provided in the 1999 Addendum.
Based on observation of the 2000-2001 stone column water levels, it is generally concluded that the stone
columns to a greater or lesser extent collect and drain water. Collectors and drainers of water include SC-
2, SC-03, SC-05, SC-07, SC-15, SC-16, SC-17, SC-18, SC-19, SC-20, SC-21, SC-22, SC-23, SC-26, SC-
29, SC-33, SC-44, SC-47, SC-48, SC-49, SC-51, SC-52, SC-61, SC-64, SC-67, SC-68, SC-69. Collectors
of water include SC-60.
Stone columns were not pumped in either 2000 or 2001.
Generally, the stone columns appear to collect water faster than it can drain. Therefore, active pumping of
the stone columns, if performed, will reduce the amount of water entering the slide and will assist with
dewatering.
Barr Englneering Company
PCDOCSt230503/CAK
December 75, 2000
11 Appendix J
2001 Addendum 10
1997H9 L•ndcllde Corrective Measures Report
