EASTSIDE MINE
Summary of 1995 Water Monitoring
Extent of Min
No mining was accomplished in 1995. The buildings and surface
facilities were removed from the minesite. During June the portals
were sealed and surface area was regraded.
Flow and Field Parameters
The flow and field parameters of the Harvey Gap Outlet above and
below the mine continue to demonstrate the seasonal discharges from
the Harvey Gap Reservoir. No significant deviations from the 1985-
1994 data are noted.
Field conductivity readings for November and December at the Harvey
Gap Outlet-Below Mine appear to be low. The December lab
conductivity for the same sampling point is 859. The field
conductivity for the Harvey gap Outlet-Above Mine are 700 and 590
for November and December respectively. From this data it has been
determined that the Harvey Gap Outlet-Below Mine conductivity data
for November and December is not accurate.
Chemical Parameters
The chemical parameter results of the Harvey Gap Outlet above the
mine and below the mine generally fall within the ranges
established 1985-1993. The conductivity, pH, alkalinity, dissolved
solids, SAR, cations, magnesium, sodium, bicarbonate, and sulfate
compare favorably with the established ranges for the nine years of
sampling. The values below the mine for 1994 are well within the
established levels for pH, conductivity, sodium and sulfate. There
appears to be seasonal variations; lower values during the warm
months and higher values during the cold months. The fluctuations
could be due to the rising water level of the reservoir after the
water level was drained to base level during the irrigation
seasons.
There is minimal data available to evauluate the water that was
discharged from the mine. The information from the one month of
field data indicates minimal change in the water quality due to
mining activities. The Eastside Mine was in a reclamation phase
since the first of January, 1995.
on Surface and Ground Water
No discharge has occurred from sediment pond SP-1.
