I • MINREC, INC., BLUE RIBBON MINE
2002 ANNUAL HYDROLOGIC REPORT
JANUARY 1, 2002 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2002
INTRODUCTION
The Blue Ribbon Mine went into permanent cessation in 1986 and the majority of reclamation was
completed that year. A minor amount of grading was done in 1987 on the portal bench to improve
drainage. During i 988, 1989 and 1993 portions of the bench cover material slumped and were
repaired and seeded.
The hydrologic monitoring plan is contained in the permit document, pages 124 and 124a which
were revised July 28, 1994 and October 10, 1995 respectively. Exhibits H-1 and Z show the
various monitoring locations.
Calendar year 2002 was a record dry year. The snow pack in the Total Gunnison River Basin was
62% of average. Rainfall at the Paonia 1 SW weather station was 60% of average for the 2002
water year.
SURFACE WATER
• The following table shows the flow, pH and conductivity for upstream and downstream Hubbard
Creek by quarter for 2002 compared to the same month averages from 1982 through 2002.
Upper Hubbard Creek Lower Hubbard Creek
Quarter Parameter AVE 2002 AVE 2002

1st Flow, cfs 22.7 9.2 - -
pH 8.0 7.8 8.1 7.6
Cond-umhos/cm 199 200 212 200

2nd Flow, cfs 29.3 3.6 - -
pH 8.1 8.0 8.1 7.9
Cond-umhos/cm 223 240 231 250

3rd Ftow, cfs 6.0 4.7 - -
pH 8.2 8.2 8.2 7.6
Cond-umhos/cm 252 240 270 430

4th Flow, cfs 6.5 6.2 - -
pH 8.1 7.5 8.1 7.0
Cond-umhos/cm 222 230 244 290
