This letter also serves as a follow-up to
our discussion on November 12.
During the week, the active pond averaged 1.93 ppm CN~-wad
and 2.39 ppm CN-total. The collection pond averaged 0.35 ppm
CN-wad and 0.49 ppm CN-total. The weekly sample of the
inactive pond, collected on November 8, showed 0.55 ppm
CN-wad and 0.67 ppm CN-total.
As per our telephone conversation of November 12, the active
pond (lower pond) sample for November 12 showed cyanide
concentrations of 3.78 ppm CN-wad and 5.47 ppm CN-total. The
November 13 active pond sample results were 4.09 ppm CN-wad
and 5.03 ppm CN-total. Samples collected on November 14
showed concentrations of 3.36 ppm CN-wad and 3.76 ppm
CN-total.
As specified in TR-010, the DMG was immediately notified of
the cyanide levels. The November 7-13 weekly average and the
November simple monthly average for pond compliance will not
be significantly influenced by this anomaly. We will continue
to closely monitor the situation and inform the Division of
any changes.
If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
}~Clr~o o/ ~~
Alana L.
