~+
ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: United Companies of Mesa County
Operation: Pit No. 1
File Number: M-1977-02
Anniversary Date: March 23, 2004
This location was active this year. Mining and processing took place during this
report period. Amendments 1 and 2 are in place. Mining in amendment 1 is
complete. We have mined once in Amendment 2 and in doing so mined through
part of an area that was meant to separate Amendments 1 and 2. We will put
material back to provide the separation as permitted when we do reclamation work
in this part of the pit.
We recently completed reclamation earth work along the east, south, and west
sides of Amendment 2. Part of the work done on the south boundary area was to
build three additional French drain type areas at the toe of the three to one slope to
allow ground water into the pit without disturbing the pit slope, We used broken
concrete chunks to create the areas. Each one is 25 to 30 feet wide and lOfeet tall
running under the slope south to the existing pit wall I'm in contact with a
seeding contractor to see if I'm good to go on seeding or should wait until fall.
