Tables 111 through 114. These four sites produced flow in 1991 but
• did not flow in 1990.
Over half of the ponds had no measurable discharge in 1991 although
all of the ponds discharged in 1987. In addition, the discharge in
Steven's Gulch at station SW-5 was very low relative to the years
1983 through 1987. Flow was observed on June 3, 1991 and a water
quality sample was taken. Flow was measured at 0.045 cfs. At all
other monitoring times during the year the stream was dry.
Suspended solids in surface water within Stevens Gulch at SW-5 was
quite low. The dissolved solids of 776 mg/1 fn the surface water
quality sample taken at SW-5 was sufficiently high and contained
enough sodium and sulfate to indicate an interaction with shallow
• colluvial ground water in the lower portion of the Stevens Gulch
drainage.
Discharge from pond 85 located on Stevens Gulch near the well field
measured .02 cfs on May 30, 1991 and .0008 cfs on June 26, 1991.
Water quality samples were taken on both dates. There was no
outflow at other sampling times although the pond did not dry out
during the summer and fall. Suspended solids in the discharge was
quite low. Dissolved solids were about 250 mg/1 which is somewhat '
lower than the dissolved solids in the nearby shallow well SM-1
although their chemical compositions are similar.
Other ponds in the Stevens Gulch drainage which did not dry out
. during the summer and fall were P-7-2 and P-12-2. Also, several of
the ponds associated with springs did not dry out during the summer
5
