DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Monthly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of August.
The NANO/RO water treatment plant was down for 10 days during the month for maintenance and
to remove the high brine water from ponds #2 and #3. A total of 8,654,600 gallons of water was
treated and discharged into Rito Seco during the month of August.
SF-1 continued to show high manganese during the verification sampling.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on
8/28/00, the piezometers were dry or contained below 12 inches of water.
Tl~e two west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on 8/22/00, with the following
result: BF-1 was 27.81 ft and BF-2 was 31.42 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area were also
checked with the following result: PW-1 was 28.17 it, PW-2 was 28.54 ft, PW-3 was 35.95 ft and PW-4
was 30.45 ft.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 23 gpm.
The collection pond's leak detection system was pumped and sampled on 8/17/00. The leak was
approximately 39 gpad.
The seeps remain dry.
No water was pumped from the evaporation system collection pond to the tailings impoundment.
However, 13.62 acre feet of water was pumped to the tailings impoundment from the backfill wells.
This was necessary because of the 10 days of downtime and the high water level in Pond # 1.
The depth to water at BF-4 was at 26.0 feet on 8/31 /00.
A SUBSIDIARY OF BA7TLE h10UNTAlN GOLD COMPANY'
P.O.
