COLORADO 81082
APR 10 1995
INSPECTION REPORT
EMBANKMENT OF HIGHWALL AREA Division of Minera~s a geology
DATE OF INSPECTION: JUNE 2,1994
IDENTIFICATION: Removal of material on site for cap placement at Highwall
Area.
LOCATION: Sec. 36, T33S, R64W, 6th P.M.
Las Animas County, Colorado.
COMMENTS: This inspection was made as per RULE 4.09.1 (11)(1)(4) of the
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS.The placing of the cap material on the slopes of the
Highwall Area has been completed to approved grade and slope. The embank-
ment material used from site area, has topsoil mixed with mine waste,
which will probably allow growth of vegetation.
This material was placed and well compacted on the slopes. The hauling
equipement was at time of inspection shaping the Highwall Area to drain
and also placing cap material on the remains of the Primary Waste Area.
The Waste Area was shaped to drain to the east prior to placing of the
cap material.
Inspected the connection of the embankment material to the original
ground at the Highwall Area. The drainage from the natural contour run-
offsis controlled in the embankment placed. As the placing of cap material
on the Waste Area and the shaping to drain nears completion, this area
will be ready for placement of topsoil. ;
RECOMMENDATION: Placement of a erosion control at the drainage area in
the N.E. corner of the Highwall Area. This will require either riprap or
a concrete pad to control the runoff erosion.
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS STATEMENT: I John H. Bacich state that this
report was prepared and presented hereon is true and correct to the best
of my knowledge and information.
June 8, 1 999 / .~ , c;
Date ~~~\\"~11IO~REHp,,.~ ~J hn H.
