As you noted in the submittal, a report assessing the apparent success of permanent
revegeta[ion conducted to date at Deserado, will be included in the 1998 annual reclamation
report.
We have one question regarding the report which will need to be addressed. Various
disturbances associated with degas bore}toles, exploration holes and similar small area
disturbances are noted to have been revegetated with the "BLM Seed Mix". This has apparently
been standard practice since at least 1990, however 1 cannot locate the "BLM Seed Mix" in the
permit application. Table V-7 of the application indicates that the BLM Mix would be used on
drill hole sites and access roads, however text on page 111-30 indicates [hat degas sites would be
revegetated with the seedmix in Table V-13, which is Seedmix (2). This issue needs to be
clarified, and [he permit application will need to be amended as appropriate. If the "BLM Mix"
is to be used ott degas sites and similar disturbances, it will need to be included in the permit
application. If you wish, a response to this concern could be included in your response to our
most recent TR-48 adequacy review letter.
Please contact me if you have questions.
Sincerel/y, `
l {/~ r ~
at w
Dan T.
