Mill Operations
1.1 Crushing
Approximately 111,129 wet tons of ore were crushed
in June. Operating availability of the primary
crusher was 93.8$. Operations were roukine during
the month.
1.2 Grinding
107,411 dry tons of ore were ground during June.
Operating availability of the plant improved to 85.36$
this month. Average plant throughput for the month was
180 tons per hour. Major downtime was caused by plugging
of the SAG mill feed chute numerous times, replacement
of broken SAG mill liners, current imbalance between
phases in the electrical system, and belt replacement on
Cv 03.
Throughput restriction remains in place at month's end
caused by operating problems in the thickener circuit.
Surface ore from the East Pit exhibits a much slower
settling rate than the composites used to $evelop the
design criteria. The required settling rate can be
obtained by diluting the thickener feed pulp density to
20$ solids. The equipment and piping necessary for the
dilution has been ordered. Other changes made in the
thickener circuit include increasing the thickener
underflow pump drive to 50 horsepower, and rebuilding the
