• Barren liquor is heated in an external plate and frame heat
exchanger. Hot barren liquor is delivered to mining operations
for reinjection.
A recycle line back to the tank provides for maintaining
temperature during an extended shut down.
A manual four-way valve provides for alternating the well feed and
supply as required to prevent crystal build-up in the mine well
casing.
Dewaterina
A Bird-Young rotary drum vacuum filter is used for dewatering the
bicarbonate crystals.
• Filter cake blow-off uses a wet steam/air mixture to maintain
clean filter media. A low pressure steam generator (5 psig) will
be provided to supply the steam requirements for the rotary vacuum
filter.
Provisions will be made for adding an anti-foamant in crystallizer
No. 4. This is to control probable foaming in the filter and
associated equipment. See Attachment 1 for Materials Safety Data
Sheet for anti-foamant.
Filtrate (barren liquor) from the dewatering operation is returned
to the crystallizer area for cooling crystallizer feed streams.
It is collected in the barren liquor tank for reinjection in the
• mine.
9
