' San Luis Project Phase n Rare 1 P.zpaneion - Pinal Construction Report
November 6, 1993, seam 308-331/tie-in passed a second vacuum test; a second destructive test
' sample (Special Sample No. 2) was taken at the 321/tie-in and tested by SRK with passing results
Liner QA/QC results are presented in Appendix D.
Prior to placement of the liner cover/drainage blanket material over the synthetic liner, snow and
' ice from several storms accumulated on the liner. Removal of the snow and iae resulted in some
minor damage to the liner. These were carefully inspected and all damage repaired by placing a
t liner cap over the area. The cap was extrusion welded to the sound liner surrounding the damaged
azea. This process was also practiced over the entire liner area in the event mirror damage to the
liner was observed.
' 7.0 CONCLUSIONS
' The extensive QA/QC program implemented throughout construction of the Phase II expansion has
ensured that the facility meets or exceeds the design requirements. The facility design firm, SRK,
was involved throughout the construction activities and QA/QC program, and the Engineer of
' Record has verified that the facilities constructed during this expansion meet the intent of the design
through issue of this report.
' The field engineering changes which were implemented during construction of the Phase II, Raise
' 1 embankment and disposal area expansion do not alter the design intent or performance of the
tailings disposal area and are consistent with sound field engineering judgement. These changes
were implemented to facilitate construction and match or improve the design and specifications to
' actual field conditions encountered during the wnsttuction.7
1

1
ay ~~ lect o.
