Assessment of Adequacy of Revegefation
Cover and production values observed will be compared to technical standards that are
included in the permit documents. Shrub density values in the three shrub enclosure
sites will be compared to a standard of 750 stems per acre.
Given the very small dimensions of the areas being assessed at this site, the sample
sizes are small. For the three shrub enclosure areas, the samples taken will be grouped
together and a measure of sample adequacy made using the CDMG-specified formula:
(st)z
nmin =
(dXcar)Z
where:
nm;n =the number of sample points needed in a given vegetation type to be capable of detecting a
10% reduction in the mean with 90% confidence;
s =standard deviation (n-1 );
t = Table t statistic (one-tailed, 90% confidence; n-1 degrees of freedom)
d = 0.1;
x°ar=arithmetic mean
Means for cover, production and shrub density will be compared to 90 percent the
applicable technical standard by use of a one sample t-test, at 90 percent confidence as
specified in CDMG guideline.
Species diversity assessment will be made as per requirements of the permit.
6/27/04 4 ESCO Associates Inc.
