Permittee Name:
Permit No:
Operation Name:
Anniversary Date:
Annual Fees:
Permitted Acres:
Annual Report
Yampa Aggregates
M-76-051
Bettger Gravel Pit
05/08/93
$490.00 (Due on Anniversary Date)
39.04
The Bettger Pit was originally permitted in 1976 by Mr. Cecil
Bettger. In 1989, a Succession of Operator was filed with the
Mined Land Reclamation Division naming Duckels Construction, Inc.
as the new operator.
The Bettger Pit currently operates six to eight months of the year
dependant upon weather conditions and local demands.
During 1992, mining operations affected approximately two acres.
Mining operations were conducted near the site entrance, as shown
on the attached site map. Previously mined areas are being back-
filled as the reserves are exhausted in the mining areas. Mining
area boundaries may vary slightly during 1993 mining operations as
we are attempting to determine the previous limits of excavations.
We are currently attempting to utilize all of the accessible
unmined materials in the pit left by the previous operator.
In areas where the previous limits of excavation are uncertain,
backfill operations are being temporarily suspended to allow full
utilization of the remaining unmined reserves.
It is anticipated that 1993 mining operations and gravel processing
at the Bettger Pit will be near levels of previous years. However,
within the next few years it is anticipated that mining operations
may be scaled back and reclamation operations accelerated in
anticipation of pit close-out.
