No additional clearing or
stripping was required in 1991. Work on the haulroad to the new
mine area continued in 1991 using waste material to widen for
improved visual clearance. A designated stockpile and processing
area at the lower end of the new mine haulroad was developed during
1991.
Active mining in the old mine area was discontinued in January
1991. Reclamation efforts in the old mine area during the year
included resloping and regrading of highwalls mined prior to 1990.
Work was started on backfilling and final grading the last area
mined in early 1991. Topsoil was replaced on approximately .7
acres of this area and reseeding was accomplished. Work was
completed on "pulling back" and reseeding the original exploration
roads and drill sites at the old mine.
At the new mine, work was accomplished in "pulling back" and
reseeding the original access road into the area along with other
exploration roads and drill sites.
Exploration roads and drill sites in the old mine area that were
reclaimed and reseeded in 1990 showed encouraging signs of re-
vegetation by the fall of 1991.
The portion of Eagle County Road #51 which serves as a haulroad was
treated with dust suppressant (Lignosite) in the early summer of
1991.
A total of approximately 180,000 tons of gypsum rock was shipped
from the old and new mine areas during 1991.
-2-
