The (W.Q.1 results for wells immediately down-gradient from injection/production
well field indicate three distinct water quality zones. The Perched aquifer is low in
TDS (Total Dissolved Solidsl, conductivity, fluoride, SAR (Sodium Absorption
Ratio) and moderate to high in pH. The A and B-Groove aquifers are similar in
water quality with moderate TDS, conductivity, SAR, but high fluoride and pH.
Although similar, the B-Groove aquifer generally has slightly higher levels of TDS,
conductivity, SAR and fluoride. The Dissolution Surface aquifer is characterized
by high TDS, conductivity, SAR, magnesium, potassium but moderate fluoride and
pH. In 1992, historical well data was input to produce data shown on Tables.
Each monthly lab report is compared to historical data sheet for quality assurance
(QA) check. If a significant change is noted, the lab is asked to reanalyze the
sample. In 1992 thE; QA check resulted in several lab corrections of data. No
trend or significant water quality change was noted, therefore through the 1992
water year, no effects from WRNM's activities were evident.
Water level data from baseline condition prior to pumpage or injection, indicated
four distinct zones. See Figure 6-2 for "baseline", April, 1990 water levels.
Pumping from WRNNI's water well, 90-1 completed in the A-Groove, began in
May, 1990 and affected primarily the A-Groove and to a lesser degree, the
B-Groove aquifer. See Figure 6-3 from April, 1991 for illustration of pumpage
effects and Figure 6-4 from October, 1991 for an example of potentiometric water
level recovery following several months of no pumpage and after injection/solution
mining activity was temporarily suspended. Figure 6-5 from November, 1992
indicates most current status of wells.
The following table summarizes potentiometric water level data from ground
~1 surface for monitoring wells immediately down-dip of solution mining activity:
53
