Walther
&eculrve Director
Michael B. Long
Division Director
Attached is the above referenced AHR, along with an updated AHR summary. My preliminary
review comments are listed below. I need to request a that a hydrologist review the AHR for
conformance with PHC projections.
Preliminary Review Comments
On page 3, in Section 2.1.2, text states that bedrock monitoring "is conducted at 15 holes
on seven locations while alluvial hydrology monitoring is conducted at two
Iocations...QAL-5 and...RM-l." This apparently is describing the monitoring program
which was in effect during the `97/98 water year, but it would seem to be inaccurate, as it
does not correspond to the Table A-], in Appendix A, which lists 26 bedrock wells at 11
well sites. The text should be appropriately amended.
2. Text on page 3 indicates that RM-1 was monitored on a monthly basis, and text on page 5
indicates that no water was ever detected in RM-1, but the applicable time frame is not
referenced. The monthly sampling data for the well is not presented in the appendices,
and the operator could probably state more clearly that the well was monitored monthly
during the `97/98 water year, and was dry each time it was checked, if this was the case.
3. Water level data for several wells is listed twice in Appendix C, while data for certain
wells is not provided at all. Data is not provided for 2-7L, TW2-7L, 2-17L, 4-20L, 35-
4L, 36-2L, 32-7L, and 33-8L. The missing data will need to be provided, and the table
amended as appropriate.
4. Required analytical parameters, Potassium and Boron, and the calculated Sodium
Adsorption Ratio (SAR), were not listed in the quarterly analytical data for QAL-5, in
Appendix E. The information should be provided, or an explanation provided. Also, for
several of the parameters, levels are listed as "V' (undetectable). Detection limits should
be listed on the table.
cc: Murari Shrestha, WFA
