V. Jolly Pit (Permit No, M-85-121)
A. Reclamation plan: The county originally submitted a Reclamation
Plan providing that after mining is complete, the site will be smoothed and
levelled of any deposits of sand and gravel. The overburden will be
replaced to slopes not steeper than 8:1 and the topsoil that is stockpiled
will be returned to the overburden. It ie anticipated that 6" to 8" of
topsoil shall be salvaged. Following the final shaping, the mined area
will be worked for a seedbed and seed to a cover crop of sorghum - type of
forage. The area will be seeded as follows:
Western Wheatgrass 5.58 pls/ac.
Blue grams 1.Oll pls/ac.
Sideoats grams 3.08 pls/ac.
Fertilizer and mulch will be used to enhance seedbed productively to
the extent that it is necessary.
To date, the county has only eloped the gravel pit walls and kept the
area levelled. There is a small stockpile of topsoil that is being
protected from erosion by plant growth. Reclamation to date has been
minimal. Gravel pit active.
All reclamation proposed or undertaken per recommendations of local
Soil Conservation Service.
B. Attached hereto is a map delineating the gravel pit, prepared by
Ron Sidebottom, a draftsman, from Anton, Colorado,
