0
Additional Page
2000 Annual Report Fe:' 77VED
Pueblo East Pit
M-1986-015 NOV 13 _ 1
Transit Mix of Pueblo Division of Minerals and Geology
Anniversary Date: November 12
Overview of Permit Year: Very little activity occurred at this site in the last year. For all practical
purposes, there was no mining activity. The only activity was some streambank stabilization work
performed with the approval of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This has been going on for some
time and is covered under Nationwide permits.
Annual Report Maps: Included are two maps. The first map shows the current permit area. The second
map shows the current permit area and the estimated area to be added in the next year through the
amendment process.
The current permit area map was created by placing the description and dimensional
measurements of the existing permit maps on the detailed topographic map. Because the official permit
map was based on a USGS topographic map with a production date in the early 1970's there were, as
expected, quite a few discrepancies. These included misalignments with the river, alignments with river
banks that no longer exist, and lapses into adjacent property. After including these various changes and
modifying the map to best fit the current site with reference to other maps, including the original USGS
base map, the boundary shown represents the best fit of all available information. There were several
areas of the current permit maps and boundary descriptions that fit very closely with the new map
information. The areas where there were the greatest changes were in locations where major landscape
features, primarily the river bank, had changed in the nearly 30 years since the USGS map used to define
the original permit was drafted.
Affected Lands: No change from previous years.
Revegetation: None.
Expected Activity (2001): In preparation at this time is a large amendment to this permit. The area
shown on Map 2 includes the land expected to be mined under the new amendment. However, the actual
amendment area will extend about a mile or so upstream and downstream from the east and west ends of
Map 2. Those other lands are being permitted in anticipation of possible future mining activity, but in
the amendment being prepared there is not expected to be any affected land in those areas.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a corporate bond.
Transit Mix of Pueblo 2000 Annual Report M-1986-015 Pueblo East Pit Page 1 of 1
