News and Information from the Colorado <br />Division of Minerals and Geology and the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board <br />DMG Bulletin -- August 6, 200.4 '~ <br />New Minerals Program Rules Adopted <br />The New Rules pertaining to.Construction Materials Mining operations became effective August 2, 2004.. The <br />Mined Land Reclamation Boazd adopted the proposed changes to the Construction Materials Rules and Regulations <br />at its May 26, 2004 meeting. You can obtain a copy of the new set of Rules and Regulations by contacting the <br />Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado, 80203, 303.866.3567. The <br />cost for the Rules is $10 or you can download a free copy of the Rules from the DMG Website at . <br />http://miningstate co. us. <br />- - - - - 2OO4Mined Land Reelama#ionAwards <br />The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board is accepting nominations for the Annual <br />Reclamation Awards. The awazds sponsored by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Boaid honor <br />outstanding reclamation of Aggregate/Construction Materials and Hardrock operations and furthers the . <br />collection and disseminafion of information about successful reclamation techniques. <br />Jack Starner Memorial Reclamation Award <br />This award honors the memory of Jack Starner who served on the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd and provided <br />valuable guidance to the industry, local government, and the environmental community in mined land reclamation. <br />The awazd will be presented in November at the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association (CRMCA) and <br />Colorado Rock Products Associa[ion (CRPA) annual convention. <br />The Judges <br />Department of Natural Resources Staff will evaluate nominations, and Awazds will be given for the most <br />outstanding reclamation achievement and exceptional efforts in preserving and/or enhancing the environment. <br />How To Enter <br />Entries should be submitted to Erica Crosby, Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman <br />Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado, 80203, 303.866.4943 (erica.crosby@state.co.us). - <br />What To Submit <br />Nominations must include a narrative description of the reclamation performed at the site, as well as a sufficient <br />number of photos to characterize the entry. The description should emphasize the reclamation aspects, which <br />qualify the site as being "outstanding", i.e., implementation of new technologies or techniques, environmental <br />enhancement, wildlife preservation, water augmentation, preserving historic mining resources, etc. Photos of the <br />winning entries will be used at the Awazds Presentation.and will be retained by the Division as a record of entries. <br />®DEADLINE for Nominations is October 1, 2004 <br />Awards Presentation <br />Aggregate/Construction Materials Awards will be presented at the Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete and <br />Colorado Rock Products Associations' 2004 Annual Convention in November.
