1
J
i
L~
1

1

1

r

lJ
CONCLUSIO[1S
(1) The proposed site is suitable for construction of the proposed
embanlanent sections and other structures with details and
precautions as outlined in this report.
(2) The existing foundation soils typically consist of fine sands and
silts and coarse granular scils in the lower elevations adjacent
to the river and stiff to hard clays with mixed bedrock fragments
in the higher plateau area. The upper fine sands and silts
generally exhibit low to moderate compressibility, whereas some
of the clays exhibit a swell potential. Foundation treatment
below embanlanents will generally consist of vegetation and
topsoil stripping and placement of a keyway trench.
(3) Near surface silty to clay sands and clays are suitable for use
as the principal constituent of the emban)rn~nt section. Consid-
ering the abundance of these soils and lack of suitable semi-
pervious aryl pervious material which would be required for zoned
construction, a modified homogeneous eu~anJanent appears Host
feasible. Any granular or bedrock fragment material derived
on-site should be used in the downstream outer shell.
(4) A blanket aryl toe drain system should be provided to intercept
potential seepage and lower the line of saturation. Due to the
apparent shallow water table and pervious soils at fresh water
pond #2, use of a relatively impervious liner will probably also
be required. The liner can be constructed with on-site clays or
consist of a synthetic material.
