<br />Spoil Fill #8, June 6, 2003 <br />Page 2 <br />COVER MATERIAL <br />Final fill configuration has not been obtained and no cover material placed on the excess spoil. Minor <br />erosion continues to develop on fill out-slopes. Compaction of these out-slopes will help minimize <br />sediment accumulation in waters reporting to pond 8. With cessation of mining, plans are being <br />formulated to grade and compact benches in accordance with approved plans prior to reaching final fill <br />configuration. <br />STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY <br />Tho entire excess spoil fill facility was examined for signs of failure and instability such as tension cracks, <br />ground movement, springs and seeps, and standing water. No indication of potential instability was <br />observed. <br />DOCDMENTATION <br />No documentation required. <br />CERTIFICATION <br />Inspection was conducted by Ronald G. Thompson, a qualified professional and MSI~IA certified inspector <br />of earth and roekfill embankments and impoundments, under the direction of Mc Charles McGlothlin, a <br />registered professional engineer licensed in the State of Colorado. <br />This is to certify, to the best of my knowledge and belief, that Fill No. 8 construction and placement, as <br />noted since the previous certi5cation and as determined during this inspection and discussions with mine <br />personnel, is in accordance with designs as proposed by CTL Thompson in their report dated April 27 and <br />amended July 27, 2001 and as approved by the Division of Minerals and Geology. <br />nn i <br />~J'~~ <br />Ronald G.
