Shelton <br />Director <br />October 16, 1980 <br />TO: Jim Herron <br />Fred Banta <br />FROM: Tim Pendleton <br />RE: Certification the Sta lity of the Refuse Pile at GEX's Roadside <br />Mine <br />With the receipt of the attached letter by Gordon Bruckner, consultant <br />for GEX Colorado, Inc., I accept GEX's certification of the structural <br />stability of the refuse pile at the Roadside Mine in Cameo, Colorado. <br />However, two steps remain to be completed in finalizing the refuse pile's <br />certification. (1) The non-toxic cover design needs to be completed <br />and submitted for approval. I expect this design to specifically discuss <br />the topic of assuring surficial stability in those areas of the refuse <br />pile now evidencing seepage or high moisture conditions. This design <br />must be prepared by an appropriately qualified registered professional <br />engineer. (2) The on-going inspection program for the refuse pile must <br />be continued to its completion. The final inspection should be completed <br />and a report submitted which certifies that the pile was constructed in <br />conformance with the approved design. <br />/k <br />attachment. <br />
