The cyanide levels in the
collection pond have significantly dropped with the use of
peroxide. The collection pond was running in the 25-30 ppm CN-wad
range before peroxide treatment. The cold temperatures and reduced
holding time in the smaller pond are influencing the peroxide
treatment. Battle Mountain continues to work on adjusting the
peroxide flow rate with the outside advice of the DeGussa
Corporation, the hydrogen peroxide manufacturers.
As reflected by the low cyanide levels in the active pond, the INCO
circuit is operating smoothly.
The results of the weekly analysis of the inactive (lower) pond
showed 0.70 ppm CN-wad and 2.51 ppm CN-total.
Sincerely,
Alana L. Scott
Environmental Engineer
P.O. BO?C 310 SAN LUIS, COLORADO 81152
(719) 672-3362 FA\ (719) 672-336J
