STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman SL, Room 215
Deneer. CuWrado 80203
Phone: 1303) 866-3567
FAY: (307) R32 8106
INTERNAL MEMORANDUM
T0: Mike Boulay
From: Sandy Browr~
Re: Seneca II-W, Annual Hydrological Report
Date: March 23, 1999
DIVISION OF
MINERALS
GEOLOGY
0.EC LAM ATION
MI NIN G•SAFETY
Bill Owens
Gwernnr
Greh L lVal~her
E*euihve Dneclor
Michael 8. Lonp
Drcision Direan.
I reviewed Seneca II-W's AHR for compliance with their approved monitoring
plan. They have conducted all monitoring as required. I used the approved plan
in the permit dated November 5, 1993. As you know, the sites have been
relabeled which made the comparison a little time consuming! Tables at the
beginning of each section in the AHR provide a list of the well number (old site}
with the computer id.
SCC has included extra sites in their AHR. Ground water sites not in the permit
with data in the AHR were: GW-S2W-23A (WSAL14), GW-52W-40V1 ((WOV4-
1), GW-52W-40V2 (WOV4-2) and GW-2W-4W (WW4). Surface water sites
included in the AHR but not in the approved monitoring plan were: SW-52W-
SG9 (WSH9), SW-52W-SG17 (WSH17), SW-52W-SG16 (WSH16), SW-52W-FG5
(WSDS) and SW-S2W-CG1 (WSSC1). Several springs were also added: 5-46
(WSPG46), 5-47 (WSPG47), 5-48 (WSPG48), 5-49 (WSPG49) and Spoil Spring 1
(WSSPGI).
There is a statement on page 15 of the AHR, that is somewhat misleading. It
says that, "Only water from Surface water site WSHFl (lower Hubberson Gulch)
has the potential of being used for irrigation; although this has not been
developed as such." As we have discussed, water from above this station is
used for irrigation purposes. Therefore, I think we need to evaluate the data
from that site taking irrigation into consideration. The data is presented in
Appendix E for site WSH7. In June and July the conductivity was 1010 and 1070
umhos/cm respectively.
I am attaching the Hydrologic Monitoring Map from the permit application for
your assistance and also a summary of the PHC's from the permit application.
Let me know if you need anything else. Thank-you for your assistance.
Attachments
cc. Larry Routten
