Each point will be
addressed as per your original letter.
1) During the first half of 1995, the second panel was mined
out during February. The third panel started up in early June and
advanced approximately 600 feet. The third panel was started
approximately 880' East of its original planned initiation point.
Mining should continue in panel 3 throughout the remainder of the
year. The 4th panel is not expected to start until mid-1996. It
will also be shortened approximately 880' on the East end.
There are six sets of subsidence monuments in place. The 3rd
North Railroad Monuments were established adjacent to the railroad
tracks on March, 1988 over the 3rd North mains. The Santistevan
Canyon monuments were established over the west end of the 1st
panel parallel and perpendicular to t-he panel. The Zamora Canyon
monuments are set perpendicular to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th panels.
The East Panel monuments are set perpendicular to the 2nd, 3rd, and
4th panels on the East end. The 3rd North monuments are set
parallel to the East end of the 2nd panel. A new set of points,
identified as NW3 West End Monuments, parallel to the West end of
the 3rd panel were established in June.
During this period, only the 3rd North monuments were affected
by subsidence. The point in the center of the panel showed a drop
of 4.6'. The remaining sets of points did not show signs of
subsidence. The subsidence effects on NW3 West End Monuments will
be registered in the 3rd quarter survey.
The attached report on the 3rd North Railroad Monuments gives
a detailed explanation of the results of that survey information.
It is this information that supports the TR40 request for
discontinuation of monitoring.
