No significant changes in the spring water cuality are
evident.
IMPACTS AND FUTURE MONITORING
No significant unpredicted adverse impacts were detected from the 1984
hydrologic monitoring program. The only significant variation from the
predicted impacts was the less than predicted declines in the Midale
Sandstone. This may be due to change=_ in the location of the main area of
mining in the No. 5 Mine and an increase in recharge. At least one more
year of data will be required tc properly evaluate this condition.
The only mitigating measure instituted in 1984 was the upgrading of the
No. 9 Mine discharge treatment system to eliminate occasional pH
excursions. The upgrading included installing larger CO9 storage tanks at
the site and constructing a manifold system to administer the C02 more
efficiently.
We believe that the parameters indicated on Table 37 do not have to be
monitored any more. Over the period of monitoring the tables indicates
that no significant natural source of any of these parameters have been
detected and Empire Energy does not employ anything in its operations that
could produce measurable quantities of any of these parameters.
Presently, up to four years of data exist for some of the monitoring. N
review of the data indicates that some of the parameters analyzed at the
various stations no longer require monitoring, Those parameters are
identified in Tab]e 37.
-6-
